The Chinese premier called for sound and stable development in China-Australia ties, adding that this will not only be beneficial to the people of the two countries but also for the stability and development of the region and the world.

China and Australia should view each other's development as an opportunity, properly handle differences and bring bilateral ties to a "normal track," he told Morrison.

Noting that China and Australia are important economic and trade partners, he said China is willing to continue to engage in exchanges and cooperation with Australia in areas such as trade, energy, finance, education and addressing climate change.

Morrison hailed China's development as a "miracle" in the history of mankind.

As a sovereign country, Australia does not need to make a choice between its relations with China and with the United States, he said, stressing that Australia will deal with China in an independent manner.

Australia looks forward to resuming exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields as soon as possible, he told Li.
