There are over 100,000 pots of chrysanthemums at the Baotu Spring Chrysanthemum Exhibition in Jinan, east China's Shandong Province.

In 1980, the first Chrysanthemum Exhibition was held. Since then, the tradition has gradually formed. The Chrysanthemum Exhibition has been held every year from the end of October to the end of November and has been held for 39 times.

The Baotu Spring Chrysanthemum Exhibition is not only a tourism highlight for visitors but also a culture in Jinan. It provides a platform for showing new varieties of chrysanthemums and exchanging cultivation experience for many chrysanthemum fans, even some rare types of chrysanthemums can be found at the exhibition.

Chrysanthemums will also be made into different shapes, which is called "Zhaju" in Chinese. Craftsmen first create the basic form with bamboo sticks, then start cultivating the chrysanthemums, continually trimming, finally transplant the flowers before the exhibition. Different shapes require different varieties of chrysanthemums. The Chrysanthemum Exhibition lasts only one month, but it usually needs a whole year preparation.

More than 500 chrysanthemum species and 16 sets of chrysanthemum shapes are displayed this year.
