About 60 car and spare parts companies from 16 countries have showcased their best in the 30,000-square-meter auto pavilion at this year's CIIE.

There are over 140 cars in the auto pavilion. This is an exhibition of vehicles not only across the world, but also across time: You can see several vintage models that were legendary on the race tracks, and also futuristic concepts that do not look like today's cars at all.

And new energy is the way forward, with both Hyundai and Kia debuting electric cars.

Others are trying to approach the zero-emission concept a bit differently. Toyota's Mirai is a hydrogen-powered car, and so is Honda's Clarity Fuel Cell. With just a three-minute refuel time, the Clarity Fuel Cell can travel up to 750 kilometers.

None of the cars displayed on the Volkswagen stage has a pure internal combustion engine. The company aims to be fully carbon neutral by 2050.
