The second China International Import Expo won applause from the international community as China's high-level opening-up of its market to the world economy is in line with the historical trend and is beneficial to all humankind.

"The CIIE will present Africa with an opportunity to be integrated into the global trade chain," said Philip Myburgh, the executive head of Pan-Africa China Banking at Standard Bank.

It would reinforce the importance of multilateral cooperation. Africa's developing and emerging economies that rely on an open, inclusive and rules-based global system for the growth and development would benefit from the expo.

"We are focusing specifically on smaller businesses as the scope for growth that an opportunity of this stature presents is so much larger for our smaller clients," Myburgh said.

He also pointed out that China's powerful financial institutions will be at the show to facilitate new trade and investment between China and Africa.

The second China International Import Expo in Shanghai has attracted more than 250 industry leaders and Fortune Global 500 companies, and its business exhibition area has been expanded to more than 330,000 square meters for segments such as high-end equipment, consumer goods, healthcare and food. The expo will last till November 10.
