World's second largest wine and spirits seller eyes expansion in China

Pernod Ricard is the world's second largest wine and spirits company. And it is the second time the company is attending the China International Import Expo (CIIE). CGTN spoke to Jean-Etienne Gourgues, the Managing Director of Pernod Ricard China. He shared how the company plans to expand Chinese market with the help of CIIE and his suggestions on how to further explore the Chinese market.

CIIE and the Chinese market

Many of the exhibitors have expanded their booth area and promoted more brands. Pernod Ricard is no exception. This time they have brought more high-end wine and spirits.

As a partner of the French pavilion, the company is showcasing some of its best quality spirits in the pavilion. They are targeting more middle-class Chinese families by creating more occasions to enjoy wine and spirits in their daily lives. 

In terms of the Chinese business environment, Gourgues said what Pernod Ricard always strives for is a fair and sustainable competition and market access, and China has developed tremendously in this direction over the past 20 years.
