In the Chinese Basketball Association, defending champion the Guangdong Southern Tigers suffered a 120-115 defeat at the hands of Jilin Northeast Tigers on Sunday. Earlier, when the South China side traveled to Jilin, both teams had three wins apiece since the start of the new season. The match got underway as Jilin's Dominique Jones drove in and pulled up for the floater to make it 6-4 for his side. The American then hit from the same spot to put the hosts up by four points.

Two minutes into the second quarter, Yi Jianlian's three gave Guangdong a 27-24 lead. The last season's Finals MVP went on to finish with 27 points in the game. In the final seconds of the third quarter, Jones went off the glass to tie the game at 81. He was back with his best once again as he went on to rack up 49 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in the closely-fought contest. His triple double eventually led Jilin to their remarkable victory and helped the side stay perfect by handing the reigning champions their first loss of the new season.

In another game of the night, Xinjiang Flying Tigers defeated Fujian Sturgeons 127-120. Surpassing reigning CBA Domestic MVP Wang Zhelin and his efforts for the Fujian side, Xinjiang's former NBA player Zhou Qi bagged a career-high 35 points to guide his side to victory.

Earlier, the sea-saw battle saw Zhou tied at 99 three and a half minutes into the fourth quarter. With a bit more than a minute to go, Wang fouled out and left with 27 points and nine rebounds. Kyranbek Makhan's three-pointer eventually put it to bed as Xinjiang notched up their fourth victory in a row.

In other games, the Liaoning Flying Leopards defeated the Bayi Rockets, while the Beijing Ducks, where Jeremy Lin plays, beat the Qingdao Eagles 4-0, with Lin scoring 27 points. Other events saw the Beikong Royal Fighters dispatch the Shenzhen Aviators, the Guangsha Lions top the Shanxi Loongs, the Jiangsu Dragons drown the Sichuan Blue Whales, and the Shandong Heroes edge the Guangzhou Loong Lions.
