Although most plants wither in winter, the lilies in Qionghai City of China's southernmost island province of Hainan are still vibrant, attracting many insects.
The blooming period of water lilies varies depending on the species and climate. Typically, water lilies can blossom from May to August. In southern parts of China, like Guangdong and Fujian, the flowers could bloom until December. In Hainan Province, which enjoys a tropical climate, water lilies could blossom anytime, even in winter, due to the warm weather.
