The Ghana Football Association has announced that its national team will face South Africa in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at a Chinese-built stadium in Cape Coast, a well known cultural and historical city in the West African country.

Ghana's Black Stars will open the 2021 AFCON qualifiers by playing South Africa's Bafana Bafana on Thursday, before facing Sao Tome and Principe four days later.

Ghana goes into the tournament with a new football association president and executive council that will remain in charge for the next for years.

Ghanaian football's governing body has launched a special campaign for the Black Stars' Africa Cup of Nations qualifying bid.

The drive, known as 'Bring Back the Love', is aimed at igniting passion and galvanizing support for the Black Stars as they seek to redeem themselves after their disappointing 2019 AFCON performance.

As part of the initiative, players and officials of the Black Stars will make brief stopovers on their way to Cape Coast where they will interact with fans and distribute merchandise.

The 2021 AFCON tournament will be hosted by Cameroon.
