China successfully sent a new remote sensing satellite into space atop a Kuaizhou-1A carrier rocket on Wednesday, and the satellite has entered the pre-set orbit.

The rocket, carrying the satellite Jilin-1 Gaofen-2A, blasted off from northwestern China's Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 11:40 a.m. BJT. Developed by ExPace Technology Corporation under China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, the rocket is a small solid launch vehicle mainly providing launching services for small satellites in low orbit, with features of high precision, short preparation period and low launch cost.

This is the second mission this year for Kuaizhou-1A rocket, and three previous commercial launches were completed in January 2017, September 2018 and August 2019.

Jilin-1 Gaofen-2A is a new optical remote sensing satellite self-developed by Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd, featuring high-resolution, large width, and high-speed data transmission. It will constellate with 13 previously-launched Jilin-1 satellites to provide more remote sensing data and product services for users in the industries of agriculture, forestry, resources, and environment.
