China's top political adviser Wang Yang has visited Chinese technology giant Huawei's innovation exhibition center in North Africa, encouraging the company to take the innovation-driven approach to seek global expansion and benefit host countries.

Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was briefed on Huawei's operations, investment, research and development and future plans, during his Monday visit to the Cairo-based exhibition center.

During the tour, he visited Huawei's exhibitions on digital family, Safe City and Smart City, while watching 5G videos and experiencing 5G+VR equipment.

'A model of exchanges'

Hailing Huawei's adherence to an innovation-driven approach to industry development and active engagement in international cooperation for broader development, Wang said the company has not only developed itself, but also facilitated mutual benefit and win-win results with host countries.

"This is a miniature of the development of Chinese enterprises and a model of exchanges between companies in different countries in the age of globalization," Wang said.

Egypt's First Deputy Speaker Al-Sayed Mahmoud al-Sherif, who accompanied Wang on the tour, thanked the Chinese enterprises including Huawei for their aid and support for the Egyptian people.

Huawei launched its innovation center and OpenLab in Egypt in 2017, offering technology experience and solution innovation platforms for its clients and partners in the region.

The Chinese telecom company has three institutions in Cairo and six global business centers offering technology service, human resources, operation and maintenance services. It hires more than 1,000 local workers, while indirectly generating more than 30,000 jobs in Egypt.

The role of Chinese companies

Wang also encouraged Chinese companies in Egypt to play a bigger role in deepening the Sino-Egyptian friendship and cooperation.

He made the remarks when meeting the representatives from 25 Chinese companies in Egypt, held on the sidelines of his official visit to Egypt.

The representatives, from the companies including China Development Bank, Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area company, Huawei Technologies, China State Construction Engineering Corporation and China Petrochemical Corporation, briefed Wang on their operations in Egypt and put forward policy advices on promoting the Sino-Egyptian ties.

Wang expressed hope the Egyptian government would create a more convenient, efficient and favorable investment environment for the Chinese companies in Egypt.
