An algal bloom forecast and early warning system for Qiandao Lake has been launched in east China's Zhejiang Province, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences on Wednesday.
The system, monitoring the real-time condition of the lake's surface, can conduct simulated forecasts and early warnings of the water quality seven days in advance.
The system can also automatically generate reports to help government departments achieve precise data, launch emergency response plans for sudden water environment incidents and take measures to maintain water safety.
The lake is the main source of drinking water for Zhejiang and serves as a strategic reservoir for the Yangtze River Delta.
