Tianjin-based health industry giant Quanjian, a Chinese herbal medicine maker, and its chief executive have been prosecuted on suspicion of organizing, leading pyramid selling activities and other crimes, the Tianjin City Wuqing District People's Procuratorate in north China's Tianjin Municipality said in a statement on Thursday.
Earlier in January, police arrested the founder of Quanjian Nature Medicine Technology Co., amid allegations of fraudulent practice following the death of a seven-year-old girl who had used the company's products as part of her cancer treatment.
Chinese authorities launched a nationwide campaign to crack down on irregularities in the health product market after an investigation into the Quanjian case.
