Cultural Exchange and Exhibition Center

China-Brazil Cultural Exchange and Exhibition Center, jointly built by the Chinese enterprises in Brazil, officially opened in Rio on November 6. Chinese enterprises have been in Brazil for many years but many Brazilians do not know much about their social contributions, Xinhua News Agency reported Li Yang, Chinese consul general in Rio de Janeiro, as saying at the opening ceremony.

The center that will run through until the end of the year, gives locals a chance to learn more about the history of China-Brazil cultural exchanges. Forums, performances, conferences and other interactive activities will be held at the center, and visitors will have the opportunity to experience the charm of the Chinese culture.

Chris Homewood, professor of World Cinema at the University of Leeds, said, "The BRICS Film Festival is a fantastic opportunity to get people around the table with culture in mind as opposed to putting politics foremost which the summit provides."

Chinese animated film "White Snake" was exhibited at the festival. Based on Chinese legend of the White Snake, it is a romantic story of a snake spirit that falls in love with a snake hunter. The movie was well-received by Brazil locals.
