While China has strong cultural and culinary ties to meat, a vegetarian diet is gaining momentum among consumers. 

China is now home to around 50 million vegetarians.

Beijing got its first taste of Veggie-World, a vegan lifestyle fair focused on plant-based diets and products between November 8 to 10. 

The exhibition attracted a large crowd of people, a reflection of the increasingly popular vegetarian and vegan trend here in China.

CGTN reporter Lyne Lin speaks to exhibition attendees and vendors to find out more about the reasons fueling China's growing appetite for a plant-based diet.
