Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam condemned the attack on Teresa Cheng, calling it a "savage act" that goes beyond any civilized society. The Chinese Embassy in the UK also condemned the protesters and urged British police to carry out a thorough investigation into this incident.
