The second day of public impeachment hearings opened on Friday in the U.S. House of Representatives with Marie Yovanovitch, the ousted U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, testifying.

It is part of the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry that focuses on Trump's dealings with Ukraine and whether he abused presidential power for political ends.

Yovanovitch was removed from her post as ambassador to Kiev in May following claims by Trump allies that she was undermining Trump's efforts to pressure Ukraine to investigate former vice U.S. President Joe Biden.

On the same day, the White House released a summary of an April phone call in which President Trump invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to the White House, saying: "We'll have a lot of things to talk about, but we're with you all the way."
