In southwest China's Gaoligong Mountain in Yunnan Province, around 1,000 takins roam in forests deep in the mountains.
Recently infrared cameras at the Gaoligong Mountain National Nature Reserve show that a number of strong and healthy takins are idling around and eating grass, looking sharp and agile.
Although their appearances are more similar to cows, recent research shows that they have a closer relationship to Ovis (sheep).
The takin usually lives in forests or meadows at an altitude between 2,000 and 4,000 meters above sea level in China's Yunnan Province and the Tibet Autonomous Region.
