An owl made a dramatic entrance into a restaurant in Guang'an, a city in southwest China's Sichuan Province last Friday.
The uninvited flying guest surprised many diners when it suddenly flew in and hit a glass window.
When alerted forest police officers came, they confirmed the bird a fledgling owl, a second class protected species in China.
The police took the bird away for further examination and let it go back to the wild on Saturday.
As owls are nocturnal, the animal may have struggled to see flying in the daytime, resulting in the incident.
While owls can't move their eyeballs, they can move their neck almost 270 degrees, allowing them a wide range of vision.
