The pink genies that glide through the open ocean in southern China are in fact rare Chinese white dolphins. They are dubbed the "giant panda in the sea" and, despite their name, are pink in appearance.

Archeologists recently spotted them before undertaking an underwater task in Beibu Gulf near south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Sensitive to the water quality, these dolphins like to reside near estuaries where the water is clean and without pollutants.
