The Chinese women's basketball team crushed the Philippines 127-49 to make it to the final qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The PRC side pulverized their hapless opponents in a Group A game of the ongoing FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament for Asia-Oceania Region at the Trusts Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.

China have joined hosts Japan and Australia to become one of the four teams from the Asia Oceania region to book a berth for the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments to be held from February 6-9 next year.

The Chinese side, featuring seven players from the team that won the silver medal at the Women's Asia Cup in September, reigned supreme soon after the tip off. Fresh from their emphatic victory over hosts New Zealand in their previous group league game, the Red Brigade had almost a walk in the park against the Filipino side. Han Xu was the star performer for China as she bagged 26 points.

Earlier, Li Yuan grabbed a three pointer with a perfect jump shot soon after the start and the Chinese team kept the momentum going throughout the first quarter. The women from the Philippines weren't able to put up any strong resistance as the opening quarter went in favor of China with 36-10.

China's dominance continued in the second quarter as well and their cagers scored thick and fast to have a comfortable 69-23 scoreline before heading into the half-time break. The third quarter saw the blistering form of the PRC women extending their score to 100 and it was a mere formality for them in the fourth and the final quarter of the game. Towards the end of the final quarter, a talismanic Han made a brilliant layup to guide her team's final match tally to 127 points as China pocketed the match quite convincingly and without exhausting themselves.
