All Hong Kong schools (including kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and special schools) will continue to be suspended on Monday, November 18, due to the safety concerns, the Education Bureau of Hong Kong said in a statement on Sunday.
The schools in the city will resume classes as early as November 19 and all violent activities should be stopped immediately so that students can resume normal school life, the statement said.
On the same day, a large number of radical protesters occupied the roads near the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Kowloon. They unlawfully blocked roads and hurled petrol bombs, posing a serious threat to public peace and safety.
A police officer's leg was shot with an arrow during the operation on Sunday and has been sent to the hospital, according to local media reports.
"Police warn rioters to stop all illegal acts and leave immediately," the Hong Kong police said on its official Facebook page.
Since November 11, radical protesters have been gathering in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, unlawfully blocking and damaging harbor-crossing facilities and paralyzing traffic in the district.
