As transportation becomes one of the most frequently mentioned topics in present times, experts and investors are working harder on future commute possibilities. Earlier this month, the chief exploration officer of Tencent, David Wallerstein, introduced the eVTOLs, or Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing Aircraft. As an experienced investor, he predicts that in the near future, aircraft will be as common as taxis in our life.

To CGTN, Wallerstein said that today "the city is loaded with cars," and flying as a new way of people's commuting has many advantages.

First of all, "They run on electricity," Wallerstein said. Just like EV cars, these planes could be "very quiet, with no pollution.”

In terms of efficiency, Wallerstein noted that "It can fly really fast and go pretty far and land again." That's reasonable as we all know how planes over-speed cars. But what's interesting is that the plane "takes off vertically" something that's not usual for most passenger planes right now.

One of its major advantages in Wallerstein's opinion is the lower construction cost for the city. "There's not really much to build for these planes. You don't have to build roads for them. You just have to build landing pads. Imagine a block of concrete or a slab. It could be on the ground. It could be at the top of the building. And (the landing pad) could be larger because you could have more planes on it," said Tencent chief exploration officer.

"Your main infrastructure is the air, which is kind of nothing, right?" Wallerstein said, adding "You get the air for free. It's here."
