Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang on Monday slammed U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's remarks, which attacked China's political system and domestic and external policies on November 15.
"His words are full of ideological bias and ignorance of China's history and current situation," he said.
Geng point out that "the cold war ended over nearly 30 years, but cold war inside of Mr. Pompeo seems to have not ended, it seems he wrapped by the dust of history, cannot see the world's development, cannot hear people's voices and cannot perceives the trend of time."
In this modern age, building the wall with ideological bias and zero-sum thinking to provoke relationship between the parties is doomed to failure, he added.
Geng also mentioned that "we hope Mr. Pompeo as the U.S. Secretary of State can abandon cold war, zero-sum game mindset, correctly view the China-U.S. relations, stop the endless anti-China chatter, and do something that can promote the development of China-U.S. relations, not the other way around".
