Danxia landform after snowfall in NW China
CGTN

After a snowfall, the Danxia landform was covered by a thick layer of snow on Sunday in Zhangye National Geopark located in northwest China's Gansu Province.

Danxia landform, a unique geomorphology, exists mostly in China. In Chinese, "Danxia" means red clouds in the sky. Same as its name's meaning, the Danxia landform is formed by red-color sandstones and conglomerates of largely Cretaceous age. Under a long period time of erosion and dissolution, the sandstones and conglomerates slowly turned to different mountain or pillar shapes. Some Danxia landforms can be as high as several hundred meters.
