A longstanding emergency ordinance in Hong Kong has been invalidated. The Court of First Instance of the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ruled Monday that some provisions of the Emergency Regulations Ordinance are incompatible with the Basic Law of the HKSAR. Therefore, the ordinance was struck down. And the Anti-mask Law, which was based on the ordinance, is now invalid as well. But one university's director of Institute of Constitutional Law said this ruling was the wrong move.
