The U.S. Commerce Department has extended a temporary general license allowing U.S. firms to do business with Chinese telecom giant Huawei. The current license expired today. The Trump administration has decided to extend it by another 90 days, until February 16, 2020. The Commerce Department blacklisted Huawei in May, following an executive order from President Donald Trump that effectively banned the company from U.S. communications networks. It required U.S. firms to get a license to do business with Huawei. This is the third reprieve for the Chinese telecom giant, after the first one in May and the second in August.
