Brett Brown, head coach of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, is "finalizing an agreement" with the Australian men's national basketball team before he can lead the Boomers at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, reported ESPN.
Back in 2012, Brown coached Australia and helped the team make the quarterfinals at the Summer Olympic in London before they were knocked out by Team USA, which, by the way, won the final gold of men's basketball.
This year, the Boomers attended the FIBA Basketball World Cup in China, and, in spite of the absence of their No. 1 star Ben Simmons, the Boomers still managed to finish the tournament as No. 4, securing a spot in Tokyo in advance.

Considering that Simmons promised to play for Australia at the Olympics, Australia must be aiming something higher in Tokyo – maybe a medal. Brown, who already coaches the 23-year-old genius for over two years in the 76ers, should know better than others how to help Simmons put his talents into full play for the national team.
However, before he soaks himself in the grand plans for the Boomers, Brown needs to work out some solutions for the 76ers. Having played 13 games so far in the new season, the team only achieved a record of 8-5 and ranked No. 5 in the Eastern Conference. After giving two maximum contracts to Al Horford and Tobias Harris to build the most expensive starting-lineup in NBA history, such performance is more than acceptable.
The 76ers will meet the challenge of the visiting New York Knicks at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday.
