Forty-two works of historical research were recognized at the fifth Guo Moruo Chinese History Awards, China's most authoritative prize for historiography, on Wednesday.
The winners were selected from historical research by Chinese scholars published between 2011 and 2017, covering various genres, including dynastic history, archeology and paleoanthropology.
Serial research on Tsinghua University's collection of bamboo slips from the Warring States Period (475 B.C.-221 B.C.) won the first prize.
Named in honor of Guo Moruo, a renowned contemporary Chinese writer and historian, the prize was established in 1998. A total of 147 works of historical research have been cited to date.
