Northeast China's winter wonderland
CGTN

Yesterday, soft rime appeared on the banks of the Songhua River in Jilin Province, northeast China. It formed on trees and created a winter wonderland.

As temperatures drop, rime ice forms when liquid water droplets freeze onto a surface. Soft rime, one type of rime ice, is less dense and less hard, forming the milky crystals that appear on trees.
