China's Foreign Ministry has strongly accused the United States Senate for passing the "Hong Kong Democracy and Human Rights Act," and said Washington is interfering in China's internal affairs.
It warned it was ready to take measures to resolutely fight back, but did not specify what measures China would take.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the new Senate bill aims to mess up and even destroy Hong Kong, and sends the wrong message by condoning violent criminals.
Wang made the remarks Thursday during a meeting with former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Cohen in Beijing.
