Politicians from various countries visited on Thursday a neighborhood in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province. They danced with the locals and visited various residential facilities. Organized by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the visit is part of a story sharing initiative of the CPC.
Hossam Elkhouly, secretary-general of the Future of the Nation Party in Egypt, has visited China a number of times in the past 25 years. He is impressed by the changes he has seen in residential neighborhoods in China. "It's the best thing in the world. I mean when you change the lives of your people. What I saw here is changing life. It's better life, better home. It's amazing. And wherever you live in China, you will find something to support you," he said.
The VR industry has been developing fast in Nanchang. This year, the city held the second World Conference on VR. In a VR industry base, visitors experience VR for themselves. Hossam gave it a try and said, "I think that business would be very good. It doesn't need a lot of space with that equipment. So, I think it will enter Egypt very soon."

Hossam was also a guest at a round-table discussion livestreamed by CGTN on Thursday morning. He said one thing he's learned from the CPC's mode of governance is how to tell good policies from bad. "If you make a policy, a new policy in the village, to see if your policy is good or not, you have to go see the faces of the farmers, if they're laughing or crying. It's very short but a convincing result. If it's good, they laugh, and if it's not good, they cry.”
More than 300 politicians from various countries attended the briefing on Jiangxi's achievements in practicing Chinese President Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
People also shared their personal stories of how their lives have changed through hard work as well as favorable policies of the CPC.
Since 2017, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee has held nine briefings in nine different Chinese provinces. Department officials say the event is attracting more global politicians, and they've been trying to bring more local practices of different levels in China to the event, ensuring that global politicians look deeper into the country.
