Record 1.52 million voters cast their ballots in Hong Kong
As of 1:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, over 1.52 million people have cast their ballots in 2019 Hong Kong District Council Ordinary Elections, surpassing the 1,467,229 voters in the last district council elections four years ago.
With nine hours still left until the polling stations closed, the turnout reached 36.89 percent, much higher than the 17.66 percent in 2015 during the same time period.
