Bubbles of methane have frozen in a lake in China's northernmost city of Mohe, Heilongjiang Province.
In Mohe City, the temperature dropped to minus 35 degrees Celsius on Monday. The continuous low weather has left the local Lianhua Lake frozen. At some places, the thick ice reached 60 centimeters.
Thousands of methane frozen bubbles were trapped inside the lake, looking like plankton. This phenomenon only appears in cold region when microorganisms decompose organic matter and release methane.
