The China Football Association has issued a salary cap for local players, following a two-to-one defeat to Syria in a 2022 World Cup qualifier match. Super League players will now be receiving a yearly pay of 10 million yuan while second-tier league players will get 5 million yuan a year and 3 million yuan for third-tier players. The decision has been praised by fans on social media amid dissatisfaction over the national team's performance in the recent World Cup qualifier match.
