Sunan Yugur Autonomous County in northwest China's Gansu Province is part of the Qilian Mountain National Park, one of the country's first pilot national parks. Researchers have installed 40 cameras in the county. On November 25, two snow leopards were recorded chasing each other.

Snow leopards are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, and are endemic to the mountains of Central Asia. China is home to the world's largest snow leopard population.
