The third China Global Television Network (CGTN) Global Media Summit and CCTV+ Video Media Forum will take place on December 4 in Beijing, China.
CGTN Global Media Summit and CCTV+ Video Media Forum is an annual summit hosted in China for the international media industry. It is a platform designed to facilitate global conversations among Chinese and international media organizations where ideas and experiences can be exchanged.
With tech upgrades in newsrooms, 5G around the corner, and changing consumption patterns of the next generation, the discussions this year will focus on "Media vs Technology" exploring new possibilities, but also disruptions tech advancements have brought to the industry.
This year, the summit has invited speakers from broadcasting, digital, social media, influencers as well as speakers from tech companies including China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, 5G Product Line at Huawei, Alibaba, Russia Today, Dailymotion, Microsoft News Asia, Weibo, Buzzfeed, etc.
Today's most contested issues and trending topics including "Media & Technology: The Secret to Success? The Road to Ruins?" and "Tech, News and the Next Generation: The Evolution of Content Consumption".
Looking back and Highlights
The first CGTN Global Media Summit and the Global Video Media Forum was held in south China's Hainan Province in 2017 under the theme of "A Shared Future."
About 400 representatives from up to 100 media organizations from 45 countries and regions gathered to discuss topics such as how to accelerate and deepen the integrative development of conventional and emerging media, make full use of new technologies, and applications to innovate approaches of media dissemination, and how to deal with challenges commonly faced by media around the world.
The second CGTN Global Media Summit and the Global Video Media Forum was held in in Chongqing, southwest China, in October 2018 under the theme of "Opening and Connecting the World."
Discussions revolved around key aspects of the media industry, including innovative business models, media dilemmas, coverage of major events, distrust in the media, the realizable assets of content, personal information security on social media, new patterns of media convergence and transformation.
The summit will be streamed live on CGTN platforms such as CGTN's official app, YouTube and Facebook. There will be continuous updates of the summit on CGTN's official app, website and social media platforms.
CGTN is a multi-language, multi-platform media organization consisting of six TV channels, a new media group and a video news agency (CCTV+).
