Yung Wing-ki Samuel, vice chairman of the Committee for Economic Affairs, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee says the recently passed "Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019" by the U.S. Congress gives "false hope" to protesters and the claims in the act are groundless. Meanwhile, many overseas Chinese have strongly condemned the U.S. Senate for passing the act, slamming the move as blatant meddling in China's internal affair.
