Wouldn't it be nice to end the year with a memorable vacation to a destination that has been on your bucket list for a long time? CGTN Travel has compiled a list of China's best places to go in December.

Yakeshi, north China's Inner Mongolia

Home to Fengguan Ski Resort, the largest multi-functional ski resort in China, Yakeshi – a county-level city in Inner Mongolia's Hulunbuir – is dubbed "the city of ice and snow" for its stunning winter scenery.

The climate in Yakeshi City is characterized by its cool, short summer and a long, chilly winter. Due to its five months annual snowfall period, Yakeshi is known as an ideal skiing location. In recent years, Yakeshi has become a popular destination in winter.

Arctic Village in Mohe, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province

Arctic Village, also known as Beiji Village in Mohe, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, is an ideal winter destination because it is so picturesque.

Tourists are invited to enjoy the Western Christmas culture in the Arctic Christmas Village, China's first Christmas-themed amusement park, located inside the Beiji Village.

There are many tourist attractions such as Santa Claus's house, Snow White Park and the Seven Dwarf's Treasure House, creating a romantic Chinese version of Finland's Santa Claus Village.

Fenghuangguan Reservoir, central China's Hubei Province

Situated in the northeastern part of central China's Hubei Province, Luotian County is a beautiful summer gateway featuring Fenghuangguan Reservoir and mountainous scenic spots. However, the Fenghuangguan Reservoir in late autumn or early winter offers the unique scenery of red maple leaves on water that has attracted photography lovers from around the world.

When strolling around the reservoir, you will feel as if you are entering a colorful and picturesque world – it's easy to see your and the maple trees' reflections in the water and observe fish as they swim freely among the smooth stones beneath.

Yangchan Village, east China's Anhui Province

Lying in Shendu Town of Shexian County in east China's Anhui Province, Yangchan Village is built on a mountainside and boasts well-preserved Huizhou-style earthen buildings.

Looking across the valley through the haze of the early morning sun, the earthen yellow walls of the ancient buildings, with their small windows and grey tiled roofs, offer a stunning view.
