Common reeds in Beijing have now entered their best viewing period. In the sunlight, the common reeds become a golden color, creating beautiful scenery.

Common reeds mostly grow along lakes, and in fens and marshes in tropical regions. Dried reed stems have many uses, including as thatching and construction materials. Also, they can be used to make musical instruments like reed pipes.
