To secure a hospital appointment in China you need a ticket. Ticket scalpers have long been a headache for major public hospitals, booking appointments in bulk and then selling them to others at inflated prices for a profit. This makes it difficult for patients in real need to get appointments with specialists. Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center believes it has a solution as it's now using facial recognition technology to prevent scalping. Hospital officials say the next step is to update the machines to accept passport information so that overseas patients can reserve appointments with specialists.
