China's Ma Long to meet Harimoto of Japan in semi-final of ITTF Men's World Cup

In the quarterfinals of the 2019 ITTF Men's World Cup, the only Chinese players present Ma Long and Fan Zhendong, passed to the semi-finals on Saturday evening in Chengdu, capital of China's southwest province of Sichuan. Ma Long will face Harimoto Tomokazu of Japan on Sunday 10:30 a.m. local time.

Both facing German opponents, Ma beat Dimitrij Ovtcharov 4:1 (6-11, 11-9, 11-4, 13-11, 11-3) and Fan Zhendong beat Timo Boll 4:1 (11-6, 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 12-10) as well.

The match between Harimoto and his compatriot Niwa Koki was even, but in the end the 16-year-old passionate player beat his calm predecessor 4:3 (11-6, 11-7, 10-12, 10-12, 12-14, 11-3, 11-8).

There's still a match ongoing between Lin Yun-ju of Chinese Taipei and Hugo Calderano of Brazil. Fan will compete with the winner of this match on Sunday 11:15 a.m.
