In 2019, China issued a white paper titled "Equality, Participation and Sharing: 70 Years of Protecting the Rights and Interests of Persons with Disabilities in the PRC." According to the white paper, China has around 85 million people with disabilities, more than any other countries in the world. 

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Guangming Cinemas in 20 provinces and cities screened "The Founding of a Republic" to pay tribute to the People's Republic of China on the 70th anniversary of its founding.
