A South Sudan delegation on Tuesday arrived in Khartoum to mediate a new round of peace talks between the Sudanese government and rebel groups.

The delegation is led by Tut Gatluak, South Sudan's presidential adviser on security affairs.

It will provide consultation and look into the final arrangements of the new round of negotiations slated for December 10, said Dio Matok, spokesman of South Sudan's mediation team.

South Sudan has been mediating between the Sudanese government and the armed groups from Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions, where Sudan's new transitional authorities have vowed to bring peace to.

On October 14, South Sudan hosted a round of peace talks between the Sudanese parties in its capital Juba.

An unofficial ceasefire had been in place since Sudan's former president Omar al-Bashir was ousted by the army in April in a palace coup following nationwide protests against his decades-old rule.
