China to further promote blockchain industry

The blockchain pilot zone in south China's Hainan Province held its first local Digital Civilization Conference in Hainan Resort Software Community (RSC) on Wednesday, announcing that the Global Digital Civilization Conference would be held in the province in November 2020.

The conference also released its Secure Sharing and Compliance (SSC) plan to realize the efficient and swift flow of labor source, logistics, capital and information in Hainan free trade zone (port). Meanwhile, the "Six Policies of SSC" were also revealed which contained innovation alliance, training of blockchain talents, joint innovation, promotion of blockchain technology research and innovation, and support to universities, research institutions and key enterprises to carry out research on key core technologies of blockchain, and building the industrial ecosystem of blockchain based on application scenarios.

The first Global Digital Civilization Conference will focus on "trust-based digital governance" as the theme, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in the information era. It will invite policymakers, technology innovators, business tycoons, experts and scholars worldwide to share and exchange social consensus and solutions and create a more fair and credible digital civilization, boosting the development of south China's free trade zone (port).

According to Professor Bill Roscoe, director of University College Oxford Blockchain Research Center and founder of the Global Digital Civilization Conference, the essence of digital civilization should be reliable data governance and data sharing under the premise of security and privacy protection. In addition, blockchain will become the foundation of building digital civilization and fundamentally ensure that the process of social operation is transparent, complete and immutable.

The Global Digital Civilization Conference was initiated by the blockchain pilot zone of Hainan free trade zone (port). The initial members of the conference are from Oxford University, MIT, Zurich Institute of technology, Luxembourg University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and other top international academic institutions.

In October 2018, Hainan Province launched the country's first blockchain pilot zone in RSC. Since its establishment, the zone has made active research and exploration in the core technology and application innovation of blockchain, and made all-round breakthroughs in basic theory and engineering practice. At present, it has gathered more than 100 blockchain leading organizations and enterprises, becoming one of the most concentrated areas in China in the development of blockchain.
