A U.S. sailor shot three civilian Department of Defense employees, killing two of them, at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard on Wednesday before taking his own life.
A lockdown at the base has now been lifted and on-site security and Navy investigative services are currently probing the incident.
The shooting happened at around 2:30 p.m. local time at the vicinity of the shipyard's Dry Dock 2.
Officials did not release the identities of the perpetrator and victims, but said they were all male.
The shooter's motive was not immediately clear.
