Macao has achieved great development under the "One Country, Two Systems" principle since it returned to China. Fu Ziying, chief of the Central Government's Liaison Office in Macao, said the Basic Law of Macao guarantees such development and the city has a promising future with close ties to the Chinese mainland.
"Practice fully indicates the Basic Law is the solid legal guarantee for the economic development, improvement of people's livelihood and social stability of Macao," Fu told media outlets including China Global Television Network (CGTN). "It is also the anchor to maintain the national sovereignty, security and development interests of the region and ensure Macao's long-term prosperity and stability."
