A female film forum was held on Friday, ahead of the second Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF), which opens in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province on Sunday.

This forum revolves around the theme of women-led films. The host, filmmaker Manfred Wong and the celebrity guest Jin Yimeng, Chen Jie, Rao Xueman, Zhang Yingqun, and Yang Ying had an in-depth dialogue about the current situation and development of female-themed and female-directed films.

In recent years, there have been many popular female films in the domestic and foreign film markets, including many that have won great acclaim. While a female film world seems to have come into being, what does it mean for many ordinary viewers?

The host also raised this question at the start of the forum.

During the meeting, the guests defined the female films in their mind with their most impressive female films or female characters. Most guests said that female films need to be based on the emotional expression and survival state of women. While they do not need to be omnipotent like superman, they should present the independent spirit of women.

Jin Yimeng, also known as Eva Jin, a Chinese director who has directed films such as "Sophie's Revenge" and "Crazy New Year's EVE," also pointed out that in essence, female films are no different from other types of films. They all use the art of cinema to tell a good story and convey a certain emotion and concept, so as to attract more audiences.

Several other guests also expressed their feelings when talking about the development of female films. Chen Jie, the producer and the founder of Easy Entertainment said that the development of female films in the Chinese film industry has witnessed the growth and change of women's social responsibility and independence spirit, from "The Story of Qiu Ju" to "Lost, Found," and everyone is very lucky to be a witness of this change, she added.

It is undeniable that female filmmakers have become the driving force for the development of the film and television industry. Countless competent female filmmakers are pursuing their own positions in this industry, and female movies are naturally one of the most suitable subjects for them to cultivate.

As a leader in the film and television industry chain, the guests also shared their views in the professional field.

Rao Xueman and Jin Yimeng, a popular screenwriter and director in the current film industry respectively, used their own works as examples to talk about the creation of female films. Chen Jie, the producer of "Lost, Found," told the behind-the-scenes story behind the preparation and shooting of the film and expressed her views on how to balance the artistic expression of the creator with the audience's demand for watching the film.

Zhang Yingqun, vice president of Sina's investment department, analyzed the prospect of female films from the perspective of investors.

Zhang added that some studies have shown that women play a decisive role in choosing which films to watch. This means female film audiences are a group with great potential, and film creators can consider increasing the analysis of female audiences' preferences for more targeted creation.

In addition to the in-depth dialogue on female films, the guests also expressed their views on the current living state of women through their own personal experience.
