Smoke and haze from bush fires raging in Australia have spread to Canberra, the capital, as firefighters raced to contain more than 140 blazes ahead of a heatwave forecast early this week. The fire burned across 250,000 hectares last Friday within an hour's drive from Sydney, blanketing the city with hazardous smoke and turning the sky orange. Firefighters are bracing for temperatures that are expected to reach above 40 Celsius on Tuesday.
