The brutal gang-rape and murder of a 27-year-old veterinarian in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad has women across India learning more about self-defense, turning to everything from karate to pepper spray to take control of their own personal safety. More than 100 women showed up at self-defense training camps in Kolkata on Sunday, with volunteer groups setting up similar camps across the country. Indian police registered more than 32,000 cases of rape in 2017 alone.
