"There is almost no trust in organizations or institutions manipulated by the U.S. after so many things have happened," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said during a regular press briefing on Wednesday. She was commenting on a report by a U.S. organization claiming at least 48 journalists were imprisoned in China.
Hua said she could not confirm on the report by the organization, but she said that "foreign journalists enjoy life and work in China," adding they should feel lucky they work in China instead of the United States, as there have been reports that journalists were fired there.
China is a country governed by the rule of law, Hua said, no one can be above law. Whoever violates the law will be held accountable, she said.
